Depuis l'annonce du retour dans le monde d'Eflfame, j'attendais avec impatience ce nouveau roman d'Holly Black. Et chose certaine, je n'ai pas été déçu ! Reine de la cour de Teeth, Suren s'est enfui dans le monde des humains, vivant seule et sauvagement dans les bois. Hanté par son passé et le traitement impitoyable qu'elle a subi, elle casse son temps pour aider les mortels. Mais son passé la poursuit et n'a d'autres choix que d'accepter la main que lui tend Oak. Charmeur et manipulateur, il est promis au trône d'Elfhame et à un mariage arrangé. Pour une mission, il a besoin de Suren, qui n'a que des souvenirs flous de ce garçon au coeur doux. La confiance sera de mise et surtout, affronter le chemin des souvenirs. Trahison, manipulation, tension et jeu de séduction, Holly Black joue de nouveau avec les codes parfaits du monde d'Elfhame, avec une pointe de ruse et de beauté. Malgré un début plutôt chaotique, le lecteur retrouve vite ses aises à travers des protagonistes forts, monstrueux et très intelligent, qui est sans rappeler, Jude et Cardan. Oak et Suren ont une alchimie, une relation volcanique à couper le souffle et un univers attractif, le tout enrobé d'alcool et de mal être.

Un premier tome qui termine sur un cliffhanger, comme d'habitude.

Un retour flamboyant !
